European Centre for Broadcast Journalism is due to deliver ten weeks of training for journalists from Serb radio stations across Kosovo, as they are currently setting up a network of 28 radio stations (see: Kosovo Network Report.)
28 journalists and editors will be trained over the ten-week period. The structure of the training is divided into two phases – journalist/editor training in our Centre in Belgrade, and later on continuing the training through on-site consultancies in radio stations themselves.
The first phase lasts for four weeks, beginning in June 2003. After the first phase, the ECBJ team (consisting of an international trainer, local co-trainer and a translator) will do a two-week consultancy visit at the end of which a sample 30-minute news programme will be completed.
The ECBJ involvement in the Kosovo Network Project continues in September 2003, when we will again visit each of the radio stations we previously worked with, and give four more weeks of on-site support to news programme and Kosovo Network development.
Furthermore, ECBJ plans to deliver training in management to radio stations’ managers, and technical training once the Kosovo Network is finally set up and running.
Our plan is to complete our involvement in the Kosovo Network Project by the end of September 2003.
