· To stimulate fair, accurate, balanced and objective reporting which focuses on audience needs and involvement.
· To develop greater audience focus.
· To encourage independence of media through using audiences to shift the agenda away from political and business control.
· To promote media expansion through greater technical awareness and new media (on-line).
· To assist the self-sustainability of media through quality training based on previously identified training needs.
· To stimulate high-quality programme production within the limited resources of radio and TV stations.
· To broaden the news agenda within the region.
· To cooperate with other media training organisations/agencies to develop training to a higher level.
